Description

Chinese fishing nets (Chena Vala) are the iconic cantillawar nets lining the fort Kochi Waterfront in Kerala. In the 14th century, introduced by Chinese traders, these massive wood and bamboo structures symbolize the maritime heritage of Kochi.

Powered by the teams of fishermen, the net is launched into the Arabian Sea in the high tide and raised with a hold at the time of sunset. This 500 year old fishing technique is a spectacle, especially against the background of the Golden Sunset. Visit during One day Kochi Local Sightseeing.
